Guinea (1958-Present)
On 28 September 1958, voters in Guinea overwhelmingly rejected the new French constitution. By October 2, they were a fully independent country. The transition was so fast that they didn’t even have time to adopt a flag or national anthem. The red-yellow-green tricolour, essentially the French flag done up in the colours of the African Democratic Rally, wasn’t adopted until November 10.
