RE: Western media perception of Africa; Is it not distoted representations?

Far too often people agree to a general description of a thing, place or person and a major contributing factor is how it is portrayed on the global media. Africa is full of traditions which are unique to each in a myraid of communities all around the continent that most times people who might not have an idea of this aforesaid fact might be led to take individual depictions as general. Anyhow it is portrayed, the truth still remains that a lot of African communities are still pretty ‘traditional’. But, modernization and 21st century technology as well as great innovations, growth and development are abundant. Cities like Johannesburg, Abuja, Cape town„ Cairo, to mention a few, are modern age cities in Africa. So, though we have a lot of tradition, as well as communities which may still be a little behind in adopting 21st century innovations, the modern day Africa and Africans still exist. How people portray this I guess solely lies in their perception, and this I believe is one of the greater reasons Rise Africa is so important» Showing Africa for what Africa truely is and not just by what one individual thinks it to be or has generalized it to be.
